Welcome to the Website of Dr Tolulope Adekola
About Me
I am a dual-qualified attorney admitted in Australia and Nigeria, a researcher, and a Lecturer at the Thomas More Law School, Australian Catholic University (ACU). I also serve as Principal Partner of CedarRoots Legal Practitioners, a law firm based in Brisbane, Australia.
My research spans intellectual property and innovation policy, public health law, law and technology, and African history in the context of innovation. Substantively, my work engages three pressing global challenges: health and pharmaceuticals, climate change, and food security. I have been recognised with several awards, including the UQ-BEL Award of Excellence in Research (ECR) 2024 and a shortlisting for the Australian Legal Research Award (ECR) 2024.
Prior to joining ACU, I was a Research Fellow at the TC Beirne School of Law, University of Queensland, and a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, Germany. I hold a PhD from the City University of Hong Kong, completed with research stay funding from the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition and the University Grants Committee of Hong Kong.
I serve as a knowledge network consultant to the United Nations Office of the Special Adviser on Africa.
Previous teaching appointments include the City University of Hong Kong and Landmark University, Nigeria.
